The Process

Overview

Each year, five second year cadets graduate in December and five new cadets are selected for the following year's programme, which starts in January.

Annual open days

In June, two separate orientation open days are held on Waipaoa Station. For those intending to apply for a cadetship, attending one of the orientation days is recommended as it is a good chance to have a look at the operation and to meet staff and cadets. The afternoon consists of a welcome from the training manager, a presentation on the operation followed by a tour of the training facility and grounds.

Interviews

Once an application has been accepted, the applicant will be required to attend a short 15-minute interview with the Waipaoa selection panel. The application form and interview will both be considered as part of the decision making process.

Selection notification

The results of the selection process are communicated by phone to interviewees within 14 days of the interview.
